Princeton,
NJ -June 9, 2006 -- According to www.answers.com,
there are fewer dollars spent on gifts for Father's Day than
on Mother's Day, and retailers say the shopping is more last-minute.
Google Trends confirms that online searches for Father's Day
are considerably behind those for Mother's Day.
According to answers.com, "…
the only area in which Father's Day is No. 1 is collect
calls." What a sad state of affairs for all the guys who
taught us to ride a bike, change the oil in our car and
walked us down the aisle!
With today's hectic pace, it's understandable that shopping
for Dad is often done at the last minute, but that creates
problems of its own. This year, think about taking a new
direction, such as helping Dad look younger!
Except for cologne, personal grooming isn't the first thing
that comes to mind for Father's Day. However, for the dad
who already has a garage full of tools, a closet full of
clothes and enough ties to last a lifetime, grooming gifts
are a great idea.
Most men would be more inclined to pamper their skin, feet
and nails if they didn't have to buy the items personally.
How about giving Dad a new travel kit and fill it with items
he might not buy for himself? That would make him look more
handsome and be something he will really use!
When buying at the last minute, think of items that just
require a simple trip to the local drugstore or mass retailer.
Here's what to buy:
· A travel bag for toiletries
· Manicure kit, or just a new set of nail clippers
· Tooth whitening paste, such as Crest's "Night Effects"
· A new cologne, or one he already likes - or one
that you like, such as Ralph Lauren's "Polo"
· Latest in shaving technology, such as the new XXXX
from Gillette
· Shampoo and conditioner, designed specifically for
men
· For dry, cracked heels, an exfoliant like Xenna's
"CalleX Ointment" (this item is diabetic-friendly)
· For his yellow, discolored or thickened toenails,
pick up natural "NonyX Nail Gel", also from Xenna (also
diabetic-friendly)
This year don't call your dad collect! Call him on your
cell phone and take a trip to the local Walgreens, CVS,
Rite Aid, Duane Reade, Longs, Brooks/Eckerd pharmacy or
Wal-Mart and pick out a basket of items he'll use all year
to feel and look better.
